I am attempting to locate an E-Mail from September 15 or 16, 2003 that was sent to all students residing in University Housing at that time. It was when they initiated the "State of Living and Learning" housing newsletter. The university had the listserv itself set as the "Reply To:" address, and had not yet restricted access. Because of this, approximately 25 n00bs replied to the entire student body on campus with a request to be removed from the mailing list. One tech-savvy individual replied with a 1337-riddled request for the n00bs to "Stop haX0ring [his] inbox," or something to that effect. Unfortunately, I did not have the foresight to preserve this comedic gem, and it was trashed with all of the mundane unsubscribe requests. This whole incident prompted the following signature on the next mailing from "Director Workstudy" dated 9/26/03:

"Please DO NOT reply to this email nor attempt to unsubscribe from this list serve. Only exceptions for unsubscribing will be students who no longer live on-campus. Those students may send an unsubscribe request to wsdirector@ncsu.edu."

I remember when this happened. I replied with "here's how to stop the spam" and attatched a picture of hello.jpg. Then the next week I get a call from Paul Cousins. My internet was suspended for the semester.
