Would a space station work at any of these points and would it be a good starting point for a trip to mars.
If you had a choice between a station at an Lagrangian point or a moon station what would it be

never heard it called a lagrangeian point. Now lagrangeian function, I have heard.
Can you reference a paper where it's refered to as lagrangeian points? I'll take your word cause I really don't care.

This is discussed pretty in-depth in all the Gundam manga. Someday we will have large colonies at each Lagrangian point, if they're right.

not sure if this thread is only about astrophysics, but I think another possible practical application of lagrangians is in financial model optimization. 12/7/2006 10:51:59 PM |

I've heard L4 and L5 would be the most ideal place for colonies. Would any of these positions be good for using the Earth's gravity as a sling shot? 12/7/2006 11:54:18 PM |

There's already one (a satellite) at L1. It's called Helios, I think. 12/8/2006 12:01:10 AM |

There was this time last August where I was at my place at the L3 point and there was a knock at the door. I open it, and there's this cute little girl scout, and she says to me, "How would you like to buy some cookies?" And I said "Well, what kind do you have?" She had thin mints, graham crunchy things, raisin oatmeal, and I said "We'll take a graham crunch. How much will that be?" And she looks at me and she says, "…Uh I need about tree-fitty."
Well, it was about that time that I notice that girl scout was about eight stories tall and was a crustacean from the protozoic era. I said, "Dammit monster! Get off this here L3 point! I ain't giving you no tree-fitty!" It said, "how about just two-fitty?" I said, "Oh, now it's only two-fitty!! What?! Is there a sale on Loch Ness munchies or something?!" 12/8/2006 12:33:55 AM |
