Quote : | "If you are sick and tired of listening to Vitale, and you are fortunate enough to have access to an audio receiver + surround sound speakers, here is an easy and 100% effective way to eliminate Vitale and Patrick from your viewing experience. If the game is being broadcast in Dolby Digital 5.1 (not sure if that means the game has to be in high def or not, the audiophiles on the board can correct me), the audio is divided up such that the rear channels are *only* the ambient crowd and stadium noises.
On a whim during the Indiana game, I muted the front-left, front-center, front-right, and subwoofer - leaving only my rear channels. To my delight, the only sound remaining was that of Cameron: sneakers squeaking on the hard wood, the crowd shouting, and the occasional PA announcement. You don't hear a peep out of ESPN! If you already have a surround sound setup, you should test this out (unless you enjoy hearing Vital sing 'Hear Comes Santa Claus')." |

I tried this during the panthers football game. I actually disconnected just the center. From time to time, I would hear a little bit of something on the left and right channels, but it mostly was crowd noise and music.
I then tried it on a basketball game.. ESPN bleeds their commentary too much in the left and right channels (not just center), so for it to work, you needed to disconnect all 3 front channels. 12/13/2006 1:08:36 PM |

With 5.1 the only thing you need to do is mute the center channel. The only time voices should be heard on the front left and right channels is with commercials and other prerecorded stuff during the broadcast (such as "This broadcast is brought to you by..."). Theres too much necessary sound on the front speakers to mute all of those anyhow. Sounds great with college football since there is so much atmosphere that ends up taking a back seat to commentators. 12/13/2006 2:22:47 PM |

Dude, how are you going to hate on Berman. If I could, I would sert it up so all I had to hear was berman.
But I digress. This sounds pretty good. I would love to watch some football without having to hear anything from some of those guys. I think it would be a totally different experience, make it more like you are actually at the game. I like that. Now all I gotta do is get a good surround sound system. Anyone got any ideas? 12/13/2006 2:26:32 PM |

well i tried it with the NBA on right now and it seems like it would work except i can only turn up and turn down my front and back speakers + or - 12dB.. so i can get it to go down, just not all the way.. gotta be a way 12/13/2006 7:40:58 PM |

well i think it was a good move so far (even though the bobcats are down) to start primoz and bring in morrison off the bench...primoz was draining some 15'-18' shots over Z earlier and morrison hit a few consecutive shots once he came in...he's probably already scored as many FGs tonight (morrison) than he did the last 4 games 12/13/2006 8:00:21 PM |
