Because we all know those bums won't win another game...

So where do you think they'll fall in the draft and who will they try to get?

yeah, DeAngelo will be the run game. We need the O-Line. And a QB for the future.

a good tight end in the middle rounds might help.

They've got Jeff King, the rookie TE from VT. He'll be good as he gets some experience. An O-line is a must

Did any of the rest of yall just see that stat about Wienke having the second longest losing streak in NFL history (since the merger in '70 at least)

17 games.....

Ive got it figured out.

The panthers need to draft a new medical team in the first round. Second round get a new strength coach.

nah, 7-9 sounds good, a win over N.O. just to show we had the ability to sweep the division champ, and that things could have been different

I'd rather they beat Atlanta to keep them out of the playoffs, but with they way they're playing they couldn't beat Detroit.

It doesn't matter if they win out from here, they don't hold a tiebreaker against ANYONE.

the offense is pathetic, but the defense needs serious work.

A couple weeks ago in the N&O they had an article about him and he said he wanted to stay until 2009. He wanted to make it to 1000 receptions. He wanted to play 07 and 08 and then split time with his replacement in 09 while he trains him

We drafted a tight end from VT (King I think his name is) in the 3rd I believe this year.

I was happy that we got a tight end that might be able to catch passes, but I haven't noticed him at all this season.

If we finished 6-10 we would get probably around the 10-12th pick.

Brian Brohm plz.

or a great offensive lineman.

other than out offensive line, quarterback, te, linebackers, secondary, the panthers have a pretty good team

i dont think our TE situation is that bad, we just dont utilize em, so you'd never know how good they are. king could be an adequate te, as could michael gaines in my opinion. i dont think mangum is really worth keepin.

When Henning was asked last year about picking up a TE early in the draft he said they had no need for a big-time receiving TE. He said his offense is geared towards a blocking TE and doesn't really need a receiving TE. So...yeah, fire Henning, haha.

Needs:
OL - first and foremost
QB - need one. Troy Smith has a cannon but I doubt we'll get the chance to pick him up.
LB - we screwed up last season. We should have let Morgan go and kept Witherspoon. I don't know what our front office was thinking there.

This is how I expect our draft to go:

1st Round - LB
2nd Round - OL
3rd Round - OL
4th Round - back-up QB
5th Round and Up - Best Available, maybe a Kicker, and/or a bunch of defensive guys

I expect we'll go after a QB in free-agency or look to trade. If we don't trade Delhomme, he'll be the back-up, the QB we get in the draft will become the #3, and Weinke will be done.

Yes AndyMac Ive been screaming for Brian Brohm.

He is the real deal. Think how much a good QB would help the running game.

If they go linebacker, Posluzny or however it is spelled from Penn State would be kickass.

the underperformance of the Action Cats, the Seahawks, the Skins; and outstanding performance of the Chargers and several other teams have underscored to me the importance of solid o-lines - - this "nderperformance" is relative to the potential in offensive paymakers, and includes the fact that some of these weak o-lines have let their key playmakers get hurt.

Rucker production has been slipping anyways, he is getting old, will take at least a year to recover....need to find a young replacement...his career is probably over...if he was like 4 years younger he might be able to bounce back from such a severe injury.

the only problem with takeing Leak is he has every tool to be a great pocket passer .. which would be disasterous behind a terrible offensive line.

"FALCONS (-6) over Panthers
Like everyone else, I was startled to see that "Chris Weinke is now 1-17 as a starter" stat last weekend, so I did some digging on the STATS Inc. site. Did you know that Weinke's only victory was also his first career start (Sept. 9, 2001 against Minnesota), giving him 17 straight losses as a starter? In those 17 losses, he threw 615 passes and completed 335 for for 3,327 yards, 11 TDs and 22 INTs. He was sacked 48 times and fumbled 7 times. His passing rating was 61.1. He attempted more passes with his team trailing by 15 points or more (146) then with his team leading by one point or more (130). In his past five starts, the Panthers were outscored by 133 points combined (62-29). I could go on. You get the picture.

Which leads me to the following set of questions: Whenever the topic of "the worst QBs of all-time" comes up, why isn't Chris Weinke automatically mentioned the way we would mention MJ in a "greatest NBA player ever" discussion? How could you do worse than him? How could the Panthers keep bringing him back? And how great is it that he's starting again this weekend? Gentleman, start your teasers!!!!!!!!!!"
