Does anyone have a serial/parallel PIC programmer that will work with a PIC16F628A that would be willing to let me borrow it? I'm trying a project, my first one with a PIC, and I want to try and borrow a programmer before trying to buy or build one myself. 12/18/2006 11:12:27 AM |

find the ece senior design lab, or the guy who runs it. Im sure they have one that you could use in the labs briefly...
If your not a student anymore ... try ebay. 12/18/2006 11:40:47 AM |

you can find some cheap ones on ebay
also, in case you don't know, http://www.microchip.com has a sample program that you can get some free PIC MCUs and other chips from: http://sample.microchip.com/Default.aspx?testCookies=true
Quote : | "How much do the samples cost? The online samples are free. Microchip covers the cost of freight to your shipping destination. You may be responsible for taxes, duties and other government assessments depending on your locale. These additional landed costs rarely apply to sample orders. Are there limits on how many samples I can obtain? Yes. In order to provide free samples it is necessary to limit the number of requests. Up to five unique items can be requested on a single order. For each item, you are limited to a maximum of 3 pieces. Finally, you are limited to 2 orders each month. The number of orders that you can place is communicated to you when you login. If you have reached your limit for the month, you will be informed when you may place your next order." |

i remember the 456 lab had a few programmers, but i don't know where they moved that to (it was in Daniels) or even if the course still exists 12/18/2006 1:31:06 PM |

Yeah, I actually got the chip for my project for free from there, I was hoping I could find a programmer to use for free as well, but if it comes down to it, I can always build one for ~$10-15 in parts. I'd just hate to build one then decide I don't have any more use for it. I'm CSC, so I'm doing this purely for personal amusement rather than school, but thanks for the tips. 12/18/2006 1:40:19 PM |
