it's not the first time and it won't be the last time.

i saw cyrus kar speak about a year ago. he's a former navy officer and was in iraq filming a documentary when he was taken into custody.

Third Class Petty Officer /= Officer

I had a Petty Officer in my division taken off my ship by the FBI and never heard from him again...his brother had attended an Al Qaeda training camp and he had been visiting websites known to be linked to the organization.

It was a fun 48 hours after we found out before we pulled in. He had access to all the weapon spaces on the ship...had to keep him under constant watch and keep all our spaces manned up to prevent him from entering.

The only sleep I lost over the whole situation was before he was detained. With the level of detail on his activities we were given, I could care less if he was still sitting in gitmo. It took us 3 full days after we pulled into port to have a hundred people finish a sweep of the ship.

I'm almost -- almost -- certain that I can recall a time when cookiepuss used "military officer" in a much less flattering light than all that, but I guess him being your poster child makes all the difference in the world.

well, i'm pretty certain this naval officer never fired missiles at a civilian bridge with a civilian train on it (realizing that he isn''t, in fact, an officer).

and then fly back around and hit the train again.

and i'm also certain of my understanding that several instances of a FEW criminal officers does not necessitate that ALL officers are criminals.
