I'm looking to spend $600-900 on it, all I really need it for is to use the internet, play movies, music, AIM and a little bit of word processing. I do a little bit of gaming but nothing serious to warant a big time video card.

Any Advice?

For that price range no one is going to beat Dell.

^ I looked at that in the store a few days ago... I like it... BUT I have been advised to avoid the AMD 64 chips... but I don't nkow enough about them to know why.

turion mobile chips are nice, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. however, core duo and core 2 duo are far superior.

only core duo 2 is superior, since it can run 64 bit windows

in fact, for my purposes turions makes way less calculations errors that core duo, especially if the core duo is overclocked

64bit on a laptop is all but useless unless you've got linux driver support for everything in your laptop.

Okay... last question... maybe... I've heard that software runs differently on the 64 chips and that I may not be able to run some of my old fav. games (IE: Diablo II and such) Is there any truth to that?

^^ if you get a 64 bit operating system that is probably 99.9% true. but if you just get normal xp you will be fine - 64 bit chips are just capable of using 64 bit software, and does not mean normal 32 bit software will be dysfunctional on it.

^ toshibas are nice but expensive as hell

Toshibas are generally crap.

I second the MacBook recommendation.
