I'm looking to spend $600-900 on it, all I really need it for is to use the internet, play movies, music, AIM and a little bit of word processing. I do a little bit of gaming but nothing serious to warant a big time video card.
Any Advice? 12/21/2006 3:36:37 PM |

^ I looked at that in the store a few days ago... I like it... BUT I have been advised to avoid the AMD 64 chips... but I don't nkow enough about them to know why. 12/21/2006 4:02:47 PM |

turion mobile chips are nice, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. however, core duo and core 2 duo are far superior. 12/21/2006 4:22:43 PM |

only core duo 2 is superior, since it can run 64 bit windows
in fact, for my purposes turions makes way less calculations errors that core duo, especially if the core duo is overclocked 12/21/2006 4:25:44 PM |

64bit on a laptop is all but useless unless you've got linux driver support for everything in your laptop. 12/21/2006 4:40:03 PM |

Okay... last question... maybe... I've heard that software runs differently on the 64 chips and that I may not be able to run some of my old fav. games (IE: Diablo II and such) Is there any truth to that? 12/21/2006 11:06:45 PM |

^^ if you get a 64 bit operating system that is probably 99.9% true. but if you just get normal xp you will be fine - 64 bit chips are just capable of using 64 bit software, and does not mean normal 32 bit software will be dysfunctional on it.
