I would love to see Wake win it, but I predict Louisville wins 31-24

Corso hates Wake Forest apparently, he claimed they had "0% chance" in this game, and earlier this year he said that they shouldn't even be on the same field as NC State.

NC STATE!

^based on athleticism and potential he's right.

this game will be closer than the experts think. wake is great against passing teams and struggle against pounding teams.

Corso coached at Louisville so there is a little bias on his part.

Louisville doesn't just throw the ball guys. Their offense is as good as anyones. Kolby Smith has turned into a good back even after Bush got hurt.

I don't know what to expect from bowl games anymore. So far this bowl season has seen some crazy games and some really close games that should've been blow outs and a few games that were supposed to be close but were blowouts.

My gut feeling is that Wake is going to get pounded but we'll see, anything can happen.

Well, this will probably be a letdown after watching tonight's game. It has a lot to live up to after the Blue turf boys. Then again, we may never see a game like that again.

My feeling is this is just gonna be a boring game........and Wake will probably lose by a decent 10-14 points

IMO

Corso is the same guy that said Louisville shouldn't be on the field with Miami because all their Florida players are Miami rejects. I like him but his analysis on games is probably about even with hcngay.

I honestly don't see how this one is going to be close. Louisville scores 39 points a game and no one has been able to stop them yet. Wake's defense isn't great and they haven't faced a good QB yet. Maybe they'll surprise me but I don't see it at all..

^ have fun.. I'm sure it will be a good atmosphere for Louisville people..

Wake has to keep it close early, if they can avoid going down 10-0, or 14-0 in the 1st quarter, I think they can hang. If Wake can score first, that takes a tremendous load off their back

Both teams' destinies lie in the QB's hands.

If Wake does win this they'd deserve the heck out of it. Even if they don't they had a great season.

Looking at these numbers I'm not seeing how they possibly can. Louisville's defense was nearly as good as Wake Forests (and their numbers are a bit skewed by playing a team like WVU who kills defensive stats for EVERYONE they play) and the two offenses aren't comparable.

I guess the plus is that WVU did run all over them with the misdirection/option. Granted Wakes' athletes aren't on the level of Slaton/White. I think they need to get Idlette more touches than usual and get him in space if they want a chance. Plus the secondary has to play the game of their lives.

games aren't played on stat sheets. if wake can keep them to 21 points they have a great chance to win. wake wins games off of great defense and forcing turnovers. they force alot of turnovers against pass first teams like bc florida state and clemson. if ville gets teh running game going its prolly over. wake lost to vt and clemson in the 2nd half off of those teams pounding the ball. wake runs trickery and wierd running plays that are deadly if they get you. with all this time off to practice i am sure they will get a few big plays on offense.

does anybody know if wake has their injured rb back for this game?

also its going to be fun watching the 2 best kickers in the country.

Actually, Wake lost to Clemson because of the muffed FG attempt that turned into a Clemson TD.

I swear you could almost see the NCAA 07 momentum meter hanging over the stadium that day.

Supposedly every living member of all the Wake Forest football teams are in the stadium in Miami tonight. Wake's AD confirmed on The LoganZone today that this is largest gathering of Wake Forest alumni and fans ever.

this is one of the craziest things ever. how many students does wake have again?

i think it's a good decision for wake to take the ball first actually.

they're gonna have trouble stopping louisville, so they want to try to score on their first drive to kind of get some momentum before louisville has a chance to score.

^^^^^if they're expecting to have trouble stopping them then they've already lost. They are not an offensive team even when they are dominating but by taking the ball you automatically give up field position to start the game and if the team scores to finish the half they get the ball right back and you lose a possession.

[Edited on January 2, 2007 at 8:34 PM. Reason : the team that gets the ball first has to go 80 yards unless they get a big retrun.]

see now they have it on the 26 and every play wake used on that drive was wasted for a loss of 6 yards.

sure, it works out sometime but its just not the wisest decision to take the ball because there are more advantages in giving the other team the ball.

dude what are you talking about? they built up momentum by getting 2 or 3 first downs, converting on some 3rd downs, and then they punted it away and gave it to louisville on their own 26, nothing about that is negative
