Some good stuff in here. I'd like to add:
Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts - Nuts to You. This album blew minds in the 60's and the band was the basis for Otis Day's band in Animal House.
Corrosion of Conformity - Animosity. Classic crossover that put NC on the map.
The Ladderback - Introductions to Departure. Maybe not a "staple" of NC music, but a good band and good album nonetheless.

unless something crazy has happened that's not true. you must be confusing them with someone else. eric bachmann (the former lead singer of archers of loaf) is pretty much the central figure and driving force behind crooked fingers. as far as i know he still lives in asheville, nc.
edit: apparently they record in seattle. i guess their members are from all over. but eric bachmann is certainly their main figure and he is from NC and did their entire first album himself.

not to mention eric bachmann's most recent solo effort. i'm pretty sure he just went to an outer banks, nc hotel for a little while and recorded all the vocal and guitar tracks. bonus points for having songs very specifically about NC ("carrboro woman" et al.) 1/3/2007 6:24:54 PM |
