is it all just outsourced to one big company because it seems like the exact same food at most of the main concession areas in all the arenas ive been to and all the same expesive prices for semi-shitty food. Some of the stands are normally unique and better food.
It is alot better and cheaper at football stadiums and baseball fields so why is the food like this in arenas?
edit ive only been to
rbc center madison four even sides garden gilbert arena in dc bobcats arena cameron reynolds

The gilbert arena?
...
In some baseball stadiums (Camden Yards for example) you can bring in your own food and drinks.
Which is freaking sweet. 1/7/2007 9:57:42 PM |

I just smuggle in drinks when its cold in a heavy coat...and try to fill myself up before coming into the arena.

Some of the food at the RBC are made downstairs by the chefs and whatnot
BBQ (Slaw, Pudding, Hushpuppies, etc) Dos Bandidos (Chili, Beef, Chicken) Gen. Stands Grilled chicken (Used to be packaged but is now cooked fresh) Sausage Stop (Italian, Brats, and Polish) The Deck and Club level stuff, etc...
The rest of it is packaged and the cooks just cook it.
Gen. Stands: Hotdogs (Ballpark) Tenders (Same like NC State) Fries (Frozen cut, just need to be fried) Cheesesteak (Steak-Em 4oz frozen slabs) Hardees (Self explanatory) Dos Bandidos: Beans (Canned) Rice (Uncle Bens) Salsa (Well, it aint homemade)
I would guess that prices are cheaper at ballparks and football stadiums because they can hold a much larger amount of people. Sales from ticket prices would offset the need to raise prices in concessions in order to generate more profit. At any rate, I've been to the BoA Stadium in Charlotte and they offered the same crappy food at the same crappy prices. I'd like to see where the cheap stuff is at. 1/8/2007 10:54:48 AM |

the barbeque stand at the RBC center is so good though. can you buy it anywhere else? 1/8/2007 12:51:25 PM |

I wish.
If I knew the exact way to making it, I'd open up my own BBQ stand and reap the profits. 1/8/2007 1:21:25 PM |

camden yards is great - buying the brats from a street vendor for 2 bucks kicks ass. Boog's BBQ is way overpriced though - no way a pit beef sandwich should be 7 bucks.
i make it a habit though not to eat at sporting events other than baseball. I move around too much in Football and basketball to have to worry about eating something. Just a drink or two is all i need. 1/8/2007 3:07:08 PM |

i haven't been to the RBC since it was the ESA, but is food there really more expensive than football or baseball stadiums? food always seems really pricey at all stadiums to me...
i nearly always bring in food to padres game (mmm, santana's california burrito!) but i'm a total sucker for buying the ice cream in the baby helmets (and a beer or two)
sometimes bring sandwiches or something into the chargers, but the express entrance gate with no bags to be searched is always way shorter and we eat while tailgating so... always buy way too many $8 beers and usually a bag of peanuts (like $5 or something) when i'm inside
can you bring food into the RBC? 1/8/2007 3:36:57 PM |
