Is anyone other than me excited about this being released this month? However all pcs' arn't capable of hosting this tho'. So if you're in the market for pc shopping (new pcs') make sure it's WV graphics capable card.
Pc requirements include; Atleast 800 Meg processor 512 megs of memory Your processor needs to be able to run the Directx 9 MM/ with 32 megs of memory

You have got to be shitting me. Those specs have '1990's' written all over them
And considering I've tested both the Beta and release client of Vista, I can easily say that No, i'm not excited about this at all.

take the min specs for Vista, and drop in a $400 video card and it'll run fine
I'm using it at work with an onboard 8mb ATI Rage XL video card in a SuperMicro server, and it sucks 1/14/2007 1:18:33 AM |

About those requirements, I respectfully beg to differ. But whatever floats your boat.

So that's just for the "Low End" version. I left that out in my initial post. But why not run aero!!

1990's? DirectX 9 was released in like 2002. Also, it should be noted that yeah, run it on your p3-800 and get ready for the slideshow. I mean, I know that aero glass is bloated and I don't really understand why microsoft needs a watercooled rig with SLI to get the same UI effects as OS X, but whatever. I've got a 12" powerbook thats 6 years old that can do expose and all of the other little GUI effects effortlessly, but for vista I need to get another gig of ram just so i can still get the same performance out of photoshop that I did on xp.
On a completely separate note, anyone know when/if Vista is going to get dropped onto the MSDNAA for State? 1/14/2007 1:45:53 PM |

you'll need to seriously qualify your statements about vista as the range of what it's capable of is quite different, to run Home Basic you don't need much, whereas if one is going to run Home Premium or Ultimate the requirements to run MCE/Aero are much different.
i for one am looking forward to Vista...
but i am not going to be an early adopter as I'd like my next jump to be on a 64-bit platform with good driver and application support, something Vista is sadly missing right now.
so really what i'm looking forward to is Vista SP1 1/14/2007 1:47:00 PM |

Speaking of Vista, is it possible to get "used" copies of XP on the cheap? I don't need Vista, and would rather wait a yr before driver support is friendly and all the end users have found all the bugs the coders missed. 1/14/2007 6:54:38 PM |

^ Used, maybe. But you can also get a new and fully legal copy of XP from the campus bookstore for cheap. 1/14/2007 7:50:44 PM |

$70 is "cheap"?
WTH isn't XP like $30 bones now with Vista coming out?
