According to this article, Jeff Monson won't fight Fedor on the Bodog PPV as originally scheduled, but Matt Lindland will. Jeff Monson will instead fight Fedor's brother Aleksander 1/18/2007 5:05:52 PM |

Just an alternate punching bag for Fedor. But for Aleks, this could be a chance to get a good win. 1/18/2007 10:15:15 PM |

No disrespect, but I'm gonna have to go with "this could be a chance for Monson to rebound from his loss to Sylvia." I enjoy watching Aleks knock people the fuck out, but I'm not too crazy about him. All he has going for him right now IMO is the fact that he combines speed and power in his hands. He's got a goofy stance where he stands directly in front of his opponent with his hands low and far apart. And his ground game needs work. I think he has potential, but he hasn't reached it yet, and I personally prefer fighters who are more technical whether they are strikers or grapplers, as opposed to ones who swing for the fences like Aleks.

For some reason that made me laugh out loud at my desk. Thanks. Now, if you don't know any of these fighters and don't watch MMA, why did you even click in this thread, let alone post in it?1/19/2007 11:05:28 AM |

I personally like Aleks, I agree the he has a lot of potential when he isn't getting his head kicked off by people like Crocop, but you are right, he has never shown much on the ground. As far as Monson goes, he feel out of favor with me by losing to Sylvia. Sylvia has proven that he is actually a good HW, but I expected Monson to show so much more. I really enjoy watching big men with ground skill like a Minotoro or Frank Mir pre-accident, but after the Sylvia fight I came away very dissappointed in him. So I'll be the Aleks supporter for this fight.1/19/2007 3:06:02 PM |
