against the slide. just barely...enough that it creates friction and is marring the finish on the barrel some. what to do?

bushing or bull barrel? could it be the link, link pin, or slide stop?

^ word, I bought a Kimber and by the time I replaced all the MIM etc, I could have just bought a CQB in the first place Not that it isn't good, just that I could have had a Wilson. First 1911 though, so you live and you learn.

On that note, does anyone know anything about the KZs or any of the hi cap, polymer frame 1911s (other than Para Ordinance, which I've heard is shitty).

my springfield does the same thing, but I just keep feeding ammo into it. the people at Davi's told me that almost all Springfield 1911's do that, and the only thing you can do about it is oil the gun properly to prevent excessive rust.

^^ no shit? I find that kinda hard to believe...I mean, Springfield isn't THE premier 1911 out there by any means, but I would consider them to be more or less top shelf gear.

^yeah, I got them out yesterday to clean and oil them, and noticed this problem. the Rem 700 issue was a new thing that happened when I took the bolt out for cleaning. My .22 mag has a fucked up safety, too...but it was kinda sacrificed for a homestyle trigger job (the trigger is actually very good for what it is.)

thats pretty common from alot of manufactures. take some emory paper and clean up the inside of the slide in said spot that rubs. look to see if there is a casting flaw on the inside also. you man polish up the bbl to see if you can gain the clearance you need that way.

BTW, I was in when the Army first started transitioning to the 9mm Beretta pistol. We got a memo about a lot of cracked slides, so be aware of that, too.

If its seriously a problem you could send it off somewhere. I've got mine at Novak's currently but I've also heard good things about Cylinder & Slide and Yost & Bonitz.

you know, I had a Sig, great gun, but I just didn't point naturally with it . . . I do with my 1911, so thats what I stick with. Sigs are awsome overall though.

yeah, Sigs are fantastic. had a P226--sold it because it was cosmetically ass ugly and beat to hell (but still shot AWESOME) and I was offered $75 more than I paid for it. My next two pistol purchases will probably be a P229 and a Trailside.

Duke, what you are describing happens a good deal, shoot it and dont worry about it. I have a 1911 lug iron from brownells to smooth it up, on a 3k Yost gun I would be concerned but on a Springfield I wouldnt sweat it.

My Springer does it, too. I just polish the barrel afterwards. Eventually I'll polish the barrel bushing. It doesn't bother me enough to do much about it in the way of modifications.

^^^ The point was that Glocks almost never jam for any reason. There are people that have NEVER cleaned their Glocks and the pistols fire just as well as they did the day they were purchased.

I used to be an armorer, so I know that the Colt Model M1911A1 was a solid and dependable weapon. But it could not perform like the Glock. Frankly, I've seen damn few pistols that can.

I've completely switched to their loads in my rifle

and I've been shooting their handgun stuff for years

^ they did better than that on it... show price I guess

but for their stuff, it's the best deal I've seen in a while
