I made this trip last year and it was fun....their gym has got to be the shittiest in the ACC. It is like a big high school gym. Their fans were really respectful and wanted to know why wanted to fire Herb and gave him so much hell. They said they would take him. lol. The atmosphere was better than most of the smaller arenas Ive been to like Clemson, GTech, and old UVA. I cannot do a game during the week though.

Would not surprise me one bit to see us pull off a win only to make us think we have a chance against the Heels on Saturday before gettin nailed. Typical NCSU athletics. Pull an upset -> get excited -> get nailed next time out.

Problem with the game is that their guards are going to be too much for us. Hopefully they have an off night and we hold on to the ball. I'm not impressed with their inside play so it would be great to get McCauley and Costner to dominate downlow.

Interesting thing is that the Hokies are winning through an actual half-court offense as opposed to forcing turnovers and getting transition baskets. Here's their turnover margin over the past three games:

vs. Maryland -1 won by 3
@ Miami -4 won by 7
@ GT -3 won by 8

It'll be interesting to see whether they will pick up the pace for NC State by pressing more and trying to force more steals, or do what they have been doing, sticking with a zone and using their guards to generate the offense. Also, it will be interesting for them to see how they respond to being in first place as the hunted and not the hunter. This is a very new position for them. VT has never been in first place in conference play in the ACC, and I don't think they have been in first since the A-10 years a decade ago.

they won't press us with Atsur back, game under his belt and an extra week to get healthy, and from the UVA game it did seem like we learned to play defense, now if Atsur gets a little more in the flow and takes some more shots (limiting Fells and Fergy) then I really feel like we got a shot

Boo for another RSN game I can't see anywhere in the DC TV market. Boo for Fox Sports providing their lousy cookie-cutter "Fox Sports Package" to cable companies that does not include Fox Sports South.

The ACC's crappy TV contract with Raycom/LF also keeps us from getting games on ESPN Full Court because we are still in the "ACC market" even though Raycom/LF chooses not to show the game. I guess I'll get the ACCSelect 15-day trial for the next Raycom/LF split I end up on the crap end of, which will probably be the Miami game. Tack on the no HD for Raycom/LF and this is no fun.

Hooray for the ACC having the most convoluted broadcast rights ever, and making it harder to see ACC broadcasts inside ACC territory than outside it.

^^^^^ I'm not using transitive property. I'm discussing turnover margins over the past three games for the Hokies. They have built a reputation as a team that can take care of the ball and force plenty of turnovers. However, against some of the worst ball-handling teams in the ACC, the Hokies have had a negative turnover margin. I found it interesting that they are still winning despite not following their game plan.

I'm in Virginia and the game isn't available on ACCSelect. The local station that shows Raycom/LF games is showing the Alabama LSU game

^^^Accselect doesn't do jack for you if it is on FSN. They only carry Raycom/LF broadcasts, and unless NCSU is playing Maryland, UVA, or VT I probably won't get NCSU on the split. I missed the UVA game b/c Maryland was playing at the same time (DC stations only care about Maryland and Georgetown...and now a little bit George Mason).
