[raises hand for both]
I've been married almost 4 years (i'm 27) and have a 2 year old daughter.
I realized a while back that my calling in life was to be an awesome dad and husband (especially since my father was neither).
Any others out there that are married, have kids, or both?
What are your thoughts on the lifestyle change?
EDIT: oops, I see there is a thread on being married, so lets make this one about having kids. Sorry for the clutter!

I'm married with two boys of my own. Alex is 2-1/2 and Ryan is 4 months old. Too be perfectly honest, the lifestyle change after we had Alex wasn't as big as I thought it would be. But after Ryan came along its changed big time. The one thing that sucks is having to lug around all their baggage everywhere we go. When we go to church we have so much stuff it seems like we take up half the pew or more. But its all fun 2/5/2007 1:10:48 PM |

I'm 28 and I can't imagine having been or being married in my twenties. No disrespect to those who are, I guess it was as much not my calling as it was a calling for other people. 2/8/2007 9:10:10 PM |

my sister and her husband had a baby two christmas eves ago. The baby is the easiest to take care of, doesnt cry much, doesnt wake up at all hrs of the night. She wants to have another baby because she isnt getting any younger, watch this one be totally opposite. 2/19/2007 5:08:36 PM |

and def not even close to ready for kids
i know this because i laugh at the kids at the zoo who are scared of the animals and encourage parents who travel with young children to drug them 2/19/2007 11:38:51 PM |

she's nutz.
I have an 8 month old. Light of my life.
The lifestyle change wasn't that drastic. I'm comfortable in or outside the house. Part of my job is done from home. Of course for my girlfriend, having to stay indoors or away from work (maternal leave) drove her insane.
I do wish there were more things to do outside the house that were entertaining for both the parents and kids. Those seem to be available in bigger cities though.
Lugging my stuff around was standard fare. Lugging around my stuff + baby stuff, not fun. 2/21/2007 12:33:40 AM |

to 8=======D who I see is suspended ... yeah, i got a lot of shit for it, a LOT of people assumed we got married because I was pregnant. Nope. Didn't get pregnant until about 6 months later. We dated (etc.) for two years beforehand, and were engaged over a year before we got married. It's worked out 3/16/2007 10:10:33 PM |
