I filed in January, but I got a W-2 in the mail yesterday from a job I forgot I had worked a little bit in 2006. It was for about $800.
I'll call the tax people tomorrow, but I want to know if anyone has had a similar experience or if anyone can tell me what I'll have to do about it. 2/11/2007 11:18:59 AM |

Let's say you never received this extra W-2 because it got lost in the mail. What happens then? What are the odds that it gets caught by the IRS? And what's the worst that could happen since you weren't willfully negligent? 2/11/2007 7:37:39 PM |

I'd wait til I got the refund to file the amendment .. that way they don't have a new excuse to hold up the cash 2/12/2007 9:39:17 PM |

This almost happend to me too. My wife only worked at a job until the middle of January and we totally forgot about it. I sent my taxes to my tax guy to do this past Thursday and then on Saturday we got that W-2 for $1000.00 but my tax guy hadn't done them yet so it was no big deal. 2/13/2007 7:21:53 AM |

Its not really a question of if but when. It also something that if you correct it before they do you must likely can avoid penalties. Not reporting all your income is the number one priority of the IRS and there system is completely automated which means you will get caught and you will get letters.2/15/2007 3:33:14 PM |
