I want to save everything (all e-mails, etc) in Microsoft Outlook so I can re-install them once I upgrade to visa. (also because I do not want to lose them again)
how do i do this? 2/13/2007 3:12:13 AM |

If you aren't already, I would also recommend a regular backup schedule of those files from the tutorial. I lost all of my NCSU inbox (but not sent items, oddly enough) at one point because I didn't do that. 2/13/2007 7:41:28 AM |

sent items and drafts are not stored in the imap store file (unless you set up a rule to do so). they are localized to each machine you use. i used to set up rules to copy them over just in case i lost my pc but haven't bothered lately.
but thats weird you lost your whole ncsu inbox since that is normally stored on their servers and you have a cached version of it on your computer via Outlook. was this back in the POP3 days?

^ Nah, unrelated ... I had something really funky happen to my machine in Spring 2005. Lost a LOT of stuff as a result. The file I recovered from the incident salvaged the sent items, but the inbox was corrupted. (One of these days I'm going to attend a training seminar / conference which teaches how to salvage HDs and recover data).
Right, I would also recommend a complete system backup in case Vista totally screws something up. Look up some of the other TT threads for Imaging software.
