Where can I get a good selection of syrups like Monin, DaVinci, etc? I'm looking for some kinda odd ones, like jasmine. 2/14/2007 9:51:05 AM |

I know World Market has Torani, but 1) they have a poor selection, and 2) Torani is crap. 2/14/2007 9:57:21 AM |

Yeah, I know
My mother bought me some Torani for one of my teenage birthdays. Never used the stuff, and threw it out when I moved out.
God, that stuff was nasty. 2/14/2007 9:58:37 AM |

They're actually decently difficult to find... I cook a lot, and have the occasional need for odd flavoring syrups / extracts / oils.... I end up ordering them online b/c I've yet to find a place locally that has a selection of what I need for specific recipes. 2/14/2007 10:17:48 AM |

well yeah
but you don't have to pay shipping
if you buy bottles from the monin online store, most bottles are $7.95 plus shipping which ends up being $14.90...I'm pretty sure Royal Bean sells bottles for $13. Not sure though. Coffee shops won't have as big a selection as the Monin store but if you want a popular flavor (like vanilla, caramel, almond...), a coffee shop should have it.
the coffee shop i've worked at for 3 years uses torani (not my fav but hey i get free coffee im not complaining) and we sell bottles for $8 i think.

I can't speak for TJ Maxx, but I can tell you that target and walmart most definitely do not have monin syrups. target has neither, and I once found a tiny bottle of davinci vanilla at walmart, and that's it.2/14/2007 12:08:39 PM |

The following Raleigh businesses offer Da Vinci or Monin syrups:
Global Village, Royal Bean, Coffee Haven, New World Coffeehouse, the new Bushiban Coffee on Fayetteville Road, Third Place Coffeehouse, Stomping Grounds/Vertical Urge/Project 58/whatever they're calling themselves today, Helios Coffee Company, WakeUp Wired, Hill of Beans in D. H. Hill Library, Capital City Grocery, and a whole lot more.
For the floral syrups and drink mixes from Monin, you're better off asking around at bars. Few coffee shops carry Lavender and Jasmine and stuff.
I can also procure Da Vinci and Monin syrups for you at a slight mark-up above wholesale a bottle at a time and arranged pick-ups. Weirder stuff like the floral syrups will only be available by the case and will incur a lead time of a few weeks. 2/14/2007 12:34:08 PM |

I am the manager of a coffeeshop near downtown Raleigh and I order the syrups wholesale every week. If you're not after too many, I can sell them out of my inventory.
oh p.s., I only have Monin in stock but I have access to Torani (which is shit), and I don't carry Jasmine (as Jasmine belongs in aerosol spray cans, not beverages). However, Monin does make a Jasmine syrup which I can order.

Sure Amazon existed then. And now too, obviously. I have Amazon Prime, but on a whim, we decided to mix tiki drinks today, and it would have been nice to source several things locally today rather than having to wait until Tuesday to get them. Buncha goddamn nimrods, you are. Sorry to have asked, I am. Carry on. 5/27/2017 11:42:51 PM |

World Market is where I've seen them in the past, but from earlier posts ITT it seems coffee shops can be a good local source too.

World Market carries Torani and Monin syrup
If you have a restauranteur in your family/friends, ask them to take you to Restaurant Depot. It's only open to restaurant folk (not open to public) but their flavored syrup/sauces aisle is stocked. 5/28/2017 11:05:46 PM |

The main applicant has to have a business license (in the food service industry). The main applicant can then get as many additional cards as they want
My husband and I own a catering company so we have cards under our business name. 5/29/2017 12:02:05 PM |

FYI, the business license doesn't have to be in the food service industry. 6/1/2017 3:19:38 PM |

i wonder why they wouldn't just open it up to the public...seems like they'd have more customers that way. 6/1/2017 11:50:25 PM |

Probably because the rules for selling things wholesale are weird. 6/2/2017 3:46:59 PM |

^^But the restaurant service people would hate it
This way chefs can get in and out with what they need in a short amount of time. They don't have to bob and weave around a random mom and her 7 kids taking up an entire aisle. That was my husband's main complaint about shopping at Sam's Club for our catering company. 6/3/2017 11:19:28 PM |

Pfs sales off hillsborough sells minim, not sure if you need a business license but pretty sure you don't if you call them to ask for a specific flavor. 7/6/2017 9:35:00 AM |

The more important question ITT is how you pronounce "syrup".
see-rup
or
sur-up
If the former, then GTFO. 7/6/2017 11:55:52 AM |
