Some people just aren't smart enough to use Linux. Don't worry, MS makes some pretty decent OS's. 2/16/2007 11:56:54 AM |

it has nothing to do with being smart
its a waste of fucking time. Any argument for linux as a cheaper platform are complete crap after you account for TCO. 2/16/2007 12:03:03 PM |

I lolled.
Linux has a LONG way to go to be consumer friendly.
Last time I checked, you can even change screen depth/resolution without some arcane config file hacking. 2/16/2007 12:52:35 PM |

The solution to that would be to edit to script to remove that checking or to check for the lower version, or to hard-core in your version. 2/16/2007 1:20:16 PM |

unless there are actually meaningful changes between the versions that would result in one not working.
this being the entire point of the config script. 2/16/2007 1:21:13 PM |

"Linux is only free if your time has no value" -- http://www.jwz.org/doc/linux.html
I get by with cygwin for most of my stuff. I had a Ubuntu install recently and installing stuff was quick and painless (synaptic). Before that I had fc5, but I kept getting distracted from my work, trying to get xmms to work or some such. 2/16/2007 1:43:36 PM |

Linux may be more troublesome...but its worth it. For LAMP anyway.
