norton is free for NCSU fac/students/staff.

i use mcafee, because it's free for faculty/staff/students at Univ of Washington.

the cheapest is the bestest.

(no sane person should consider AV software optional. Any of the major brands (free or paid) are sufficient. so all things being equal, go for cheap.)

ok well I am no longer a student or faculty

the cheapest I've seen so far is McAfee 2007 for $33.99

I just don't want to renew my Norton subscription for $39.99

fuck all that

what are you kidding? i haven't used antivirus in about 3 years. viruses have fallen far out of favor. spyware is where all the money is today.

^^^ ok, fine, get the free stuff. any of the popular ones are good. just as long as they keep the signatures updated relatively often.

^ yeah, and one false click then you're fucked. do you ever have anyone else use your computer? wife/girlfriend/relative/friend?

i just had a virus quarantined last night. admittedly i was off in blog land, and got into something i wouldnt normally be.

Kaspersky...

I put Kaspersky on all my client's PCs. I really like the centralized management tool. Personally I run linux (Suse 10.2).
