Been trying to run a DOS program on a new vista machine over a mapped network drive. The program starts but ends with an error message stating "Unable to access linear hash files." Any ideas? 2/21/2007 11:29:28 AM |

does it work on a non-vista machine? Win XP, 2000, 2003?
Any idea what the error message actually means? What program are you running?
have you tried running the program from an elevated command prompt? (this is important in Vista)

works flawlessly on XP machines.
the program is called AHM, it's a cataloging/database program.
what is an elevated command prompt?
and i agree, vista is a bad idea. 2/22/2007 9:44:53 AM |

here's some info on how to run an elevated command prompt in Vista http://tinyurl.com/22kdv4
depending on what the software is trying to do, it may not allow the program to run correctly without running with elevated privileges, give that a try and report back 2/22/2007 10:46:38 AM |
