do you have questions about mormonism? Ask them of me. I will answer truthfully and as honestly as I can. Please note, I am not that up to date on the current apologetics coming from farms and fair.

I shall give the straight truth it won't be masked with bullshit from the "anti" and "pro" dogma.

So ask away.

It isn't that it is the "right" bible. according to the mormons, it is the one that is translated more correctly. Joseph Smith before he was killed began writing the Joseph Smith translation of the Bible in which he claimed god was revealing to him the correct translation due to either lost material or wrongly written material.

Is it true that there are new prophecies every now and then when a 'glitch' comes up?

Also, is the only way to get into Celestial level of heaven or whatever is to be baptized a Mormon?

They are not announced as phrophecies. that last supposed prophecy was lifting the ban on blacks receiving the priesthood.

yes and no. In order ot get to the Celestial Kingdom, one must be baptized, received their endowments and stay true to the end. With in the Celestial kingdom there are three levels of glory. In order to get to the highest level of glory in the celestial kingdom you must be a man and have multiple wives or be married to a man (for women).

Others who reach the celestial kingdom are children who die before the age of 8 and the mentally retarded. The way the doctrine states it, is that during the was in heaven (between Satan and God), the most valiant spirits were given a promise by god that they would return. So god either made them die before the age of accountability (8) or made them mentally retarded (cannot sin that way if you don't know right from wrong). These valiant spirits are taken directly to the highest level of the highest kingdom to live with god throughout all eternity.

^^only tke's are faggots. Yes it is true that some leave the religion because of sexual orientation (Michael Quinn excommunicated because of homosexuality and his writing on polygamy). Weirdly, many of the gay ex-mormons still strongly hold to their belief in mormonism

Quote :

Ah yes, the classic Brigham Young/Harold B Lee Seed of Cain nonsense. I wouldn't say all Mormons are racist, just like I wouldn't say all Christians/Jews are racist (Curse of Ham). I would say that a lot of mormons hold very strong stereotypes about all minority groups. Living in a homogenous culture will do that to you. I do honestly believe that much of the church leaders were in fact racist. The fact that they could allow the racist rantings of Brigham Young be perpetuated through the years proves this. But in short, no, not all mormons are racist.

yes, they can also drink regular coke too.

I started studying church history and saw it for what it was. nothing more than a farce and con perpetrated by Joseph Smith. Likewise, Brigham Young had the most specious claim to the leadership of the church. If I were to go back, I'd either join the Sydney Rigdon sect or the Strangite sect. But as such I don't believe any of it.

Mormons believe that they are the only "true christians" correct?

Therefore it would mean that no other denomiation of Christianity would have a chance of reaching the highest kingdom. Right?

Also, mormons believe that you must do "good works" right?

Mormons believe that they have the whole gospel restored through Joseph Smith. So naturally other denominations wouldn't be able to get to the Celestial Kingdom. They werne't baptized mormon and didn't have temple ordinaces done. This of course changes if they've had ordinances done for them after they die in the temples by proxy.

The same way anyone believes a religion. They convince themselves it is true and it becomes true. it is a self fulfilling prophesy.

Joseph Smith did rewrite the bible before he died. It is not accepted by the LDS chruch but is it accepted by the RLDS (Community of Christ) church.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_garment_(Mormonism)

Quote :
"The garment is thought to symbolize the "coats of skins" which Jehovah (Yahweh) made for Adam and Eve before casting them out of the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:21). It is worn, in part, to remind adherents that they have made special oaths and covenants to God. Members of the LDS Church today are commonly clothed in the garments, together with outer temple clothing, for burial. The garment and the covenants made in conjunction with it are believed to be a spiritual "shield and protection" against the powers of evil (and sometimes against physical harm, according to some Latter-day Saints)."

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Magic+Underwear

Quote :
"1. Magic Underwear 47 up, 25 down

A garment worn by extremely devout followers of the the mormon cult. It is basically a set of long underwear but the mormons beleive it protects them from evil. Some peole might try and argue that it isn't called magic underwear but if it really protects you from evil then its gotta be magic.

You want an example? I donno, ask a mormon for one the next time one comes to your door to convert you.

2. magic underwear 34 up, 37 down

Underwear of the mormon religion. Also known as Garments or simply G's. These Magic underwear give mormons the power of flight, invisibility, x-ray vision and gardening. Don't ask a mormon about his majic underwear or you will be attacked by an army of scary happy plastic robots

Man, good thing I had on my magic underwear, or I would have been killed when that steam-roller rolled over me."

The best place to get all the correct information about a topic is from someone who has been kicked out and has resentment towards them.

And I thought the people here were supposed to be educated

If want to learn about/have questions about catholics do I go ask an ex-catholic or a priest?

It is is in the Pearl of Great Price, so it is accepted by the LDS church in Salt Lake City. I did not realize that he had completed the entire translations of the bible.

I don't hold a complete resentment. Over certain things I do. But right now you are falling into the Monson/Packer trap. The fact of the matter is ex-mormons have tended to do more research into the church than the rank and file. We are a better source of information than FAIR or FARMS.

Yes, there is leadership.

No, just like I cannot prevent my family from rebaptizing me when I die.

Najeeb is correct about the temple garmets representing the coats of skins. They contain the temple markins of the square and compass and the square and compass are to be destroyed before the garmets are thrown away.
