I'll admit up front that besides doing routine maintenance on a car ie, changing fluids, breakpads, and tires I know pretty much nothing about cars. I'm looking to buy a used car/jeep cherokee/truck and need to know what to look for. Can anyone give me some tips on how not to get screwed? My budget is $2000-2200. Anything would be greatly appreciated and if you know someone who's selling a car let me know. Thanks!

HAHAHA...You just happened to make the mistake of making your presence known in a place where most of the fellas are hoping you are a girl who WANTS to get screwed.3/4/2007 8:56:49 PM |

excuse me jennicole98 I never claimed to be a good typist.
optimusprimer, quit calling me a lesbian and get a life.
last but not least toyotafj40s, you may not take me out to dinner...that's just creepy. anyway according to optimus primer it would only be dinner as I'm apparently a lesbian.
I need some serious answers and help here so unless you can give me some then don't bother leaving posts as it's a waste of my time and yours. I mean really is this the best thing you have to do all day long?????
btw, theDuke866, I take that as a complement so thank you. 3/4/2007 10:32:25 PM |

best thing to do is take it to a mechanic and drop $40-60 to get it checked over, hell last truck i bought it took me two days to check it over and that was over 100k miles ago with no problems yet that i havent caused, and i looked at >20 others before i bought that one 3/4/2007 10:55:28 PM |

Just ask a ton of questions. Find out where it's normally parked (driveway/garage/street) and look for oil spots or other fluids. Be very attentive to how it idles, steers, shifts (every gear), etc. Crawl under and look for oil spots. If everything checks out and you want to buy it you can take it to a mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection. The inspection will be around $50, but they're almost guaranteed to find some wear items or other problems which you can then use for bargaining power if you actually want to make an offer. 3/4/2007 11:15:20 PM |
