I kindof lol'd at the idea of them being built to military specs. I can see a bunch of Humvees cruising through Iraq and they get all pissed because an amp blew and they can't blast their Limp Bizkit CD's.

In the electronics world, it typically just means using components that are spec'd out to a wider temperature range, hotter and colder.
