i have a loose stone i want set in a plain silver ring. anybody have any recos on people that do this sort of thing? i went in to a random jewelry shop and they said $200!

Call Creative Metalsmiths and see what they would charge. They do lots of custom work.

check with the old store on hburro street down near the beltower, they did do that kidna stuff, and they are closing soonish so may cut you a decent deal, they try not to screw folks over as well.

They are superb. Setting in silver may be tough, you may want to go the white gold route if it holds some value weather sentimental of monetary.
Also they are retiring and everything is at least 25% off and up to 75% off.

If silver is what you want then go to Jolly's at North Hills. Their full name is even Jolly's Jewelers & Silversmith.

if you go to wilm, Perry's Emporium is a close friend of mine. Guy does great work and their CS is amazing.

Hollands Jewlers in downtown Apex down 440 to 64 then get off on the 55 exit tward downtown apex. I've had them do lots and lots of custom work. They are fair and I know their Jewler (Stacy) to be exellent.
