What could be the possible cause of video lag problems? As I am overseas, I watch flash based video streams somewhat frequently to get my fill of american programming. In the last few days, all of my videos have had a noticable lag with them. The sounds is on point but the video slightly pauses every 2 seconds or so (choppy i guess). What could be causing this? Hardware or software issue? etc. 3/24/2007 12:21:59 PM |

first thing i would do is ping the site you are getting the content from.
Start Menu -> Run -> type "cmd" and hit enter then type "ping [enter the site without the www. prefix" and hit enter.
Look at the report on round-trip times. For a comparison I get google.com at 45 ms, yahoo.com at 150 ms, and youtube.com at 159 ms.
If you have very high numbers then it's simply because of a delay in the servers and has nothing to do with your computer. It's out of your control. 3/24/2007 3:33:12 PM |

I just tried pinging the sites that i use most frequently and they are averaging anywhere from 400-600 whereas yahoo and google are in the 115-140 range. damn this sucks, since everything has been going fine since I've been here and just in the last few days its gone downhill. 3/25/2007 2:13:52 PM |
