how do you go about allowing someone to type into a PDF document? I could just use a Word File but only want people to be able to be able to type into specific fields.
Also I'm trying to find out how to go about setting up the PDF document so that you can allow for the document to be emailed directly to a specific email address (email specific but on the PDF). 3/29/2007 9:07:29 PM |

install this, and it creates a virtual "printer." You then "print" your file to cutepdf, and it creates a pdf. 3/29/2007 11:34:08 PM |

dont know how recent this is, but here it is anyway
Quote : | "PDF Forms
PDF Forms allow for some 'editing' of a PDF file. Basically, the PDF form allows certain fields of the document to be filled in by the end-user. The author of a PDF form can constrain what type of values are permissible, control formatting of the fields, and even specify simple calculations among fields.
The PDF Forms Fill-in Plugin is a free software addition that will allow users of Adobe Acrobat Reader to view a PDF form and enter information to various designated areas called form fields. This plug-in gives the viewer the ability to fill out forms online (e.g., if your Acrobat Reader is installed as a Web plug-in) or offline, and save or print them. The PDF Forms Fill-in software is available for Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX platforms.
Creating PDF Forms
You can convert any PDF file into a PDF Form. However to do so, you will need to purchase and install Adobe Acrobat first and then install the free PDF Forms Author plug-in.(Note that recently shipping versions of the full Adobe Acrobat package may already include the Forms Author plug-in). Adobe Acrobat includes a number of components, including the PDFwriter, Distiller (for converting Postscript files to PDF), Exchange (for creating PDF Forms, and also adding hyperlinks, annotations and security to PDF documents), and Scan (for doing OCR on graphics images).
You can download the free PDF Forms Author plug-in for Windows from here. For the Macintosh you can download the free PDF Forms Author plug-in for the Macintosh from here. For UNIX based systems, check out what is available for your version of UNIX here." |

if i understand what you are trying to do:
openoffice has an xml forms creator. you can add text boxes, check boxes, and some other things. then you can export those to pdf (file --> export to pdf). then they can only edit the text boxes and check boxes.
but i don't think they can save edited forms if they open it with adobe reader. so they wouldn't be able to email it back to you. they would have to fill the form out and print it, unless they had some non-free version of adobe. 3/30/2007 9:12:39 PM |
