I need to replace the DC port on the motherboard of my laptop. I have the replacement part I just need someone to take the old on off and put the new one on. I thought that I could just desolder off the old one and solder on the new one, but I'm not sure. Also I dont wanna mess up my computer. If anybody can help me or give me guidance it will be appreciated. I'll pay if you do it for me. 4/1/2007 6:38:24 PM |

it's not that hard to do, the DC port is (thankfully) a big clunky thing compared to everything else on your mobo, so it should be relatively easy to fix.
the tricky part is the desoldering. there are a bunch of guides online on how to do it.
make sure your iron is a pretty low heat - you don't wanna fry your mobo.
also, don't keep the iron on there for more than 2-3 seconds at most.
besides that, it should be pretty simple. 4/1/2007 8:19:59 PM |

I've got the tools if you need to borrow em, but I'm not gonna go there b/c I don't want to be responsible for someone else's stuff...but the tools are up for grabs. 4/1/2007 8:21:29 PM |

I guess I'll attempt to do it myself. I was looking up prices for repair shops to do it and all I can find is $140+ which I'm not trying to spend on this old thing. 4/2/2007 12:01:22 PM |
