Basically there is a lot of puss and hurts kinda bad all the time. Getting them taken out right now is not an option. Is there any good over the counter medice to take that can help with the puss or pain? Thanks. 4/14/2007 4:56:40 PM |

if you have puss, that's an infection, so you need anitbiotics, hence, a trip to the doctor.
for the pain, i guess any OTC strong pain reliever should work equally well. 4/14/2007 4:59:33 PM |

any anti-inflammatory should do. if they're red and leaking puss, you need to get them fuckers taken out. they're infected.
don't become septic. 4/14/2007 5:23:54 PM |

^^ I had puss pockets and red dots on mine too but the doctor told me they aren't always a sign of bacterial infection; it can still be just viral (in which case, you know you have to fight it alone).
I had the same problem last week.
I just kept two extra strength Tylenol in me at all times (I found it helped better than Ibuprofen for some reason-- even though Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory) and then sprayed Cepacol on my throat to numb it sometimes.
Took about a week before it started feeling better (but that's just me- I hope you have better luck)
It sucks, but just ride it out.

^very true - I just had mine taken out a month ago and it took 6 mths of bitching about my tonsillitis problems for 20 years to get them out - along with 40k in other tests they made me do first before I had the surgery 4/15/2007 1:36:35 AM |

Yeah, I went to a private practice ENT who refused to remove them and instead gave me antibiotics and steriods which did nothing. Then I went to a doctor at Duke and after one look he said they needed to come out. Halleluiah. Heh, I still have a giant bottle of Vicodin that I couldn't take 'cause the pills were too big, and half a bottle of Codeine. 4/15/2007 3:06:21 PM |

I won't be needing to worry about my tonsils. Nipped that in the bud when I was 5. 4/15/2007 3:22:36 PM |

I spent an entire year getting an infection usually as soon as a round of antibiotics finished. Had to drop all my classes and almost got fired until i brought in a doctors note.
If you keep getting infections have them removed (assuming you have insurance). Two weeks of recovery are worth not being sick as a dog all the time. 4/15/2007 4:14:04 PM |
