I have an 80g Seagate in an external enclosure. Its a spare left over from a POS machine that had a warranty and best buy put it in, and it had windows installed on it. I dont have the disk that came with the enclosure. What do I need to do to make it more compatible with my current computer? ( im thinking that since it has a whole OS and a bunch of stuff I dont want I need to reformat or something similar) Thanks for your help. 4/19/2007 9:02:30 PM |

if you can't plug it in to your computer and it automatically add it you have other problems.
that aside, right click on the drive in my computer and click format. 4/19/2007 9:47:59 PM |

Try Disk Manager in Windows:
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Manager
Open that up after plugging in the external drive. See if the drive shows up on bottom section. If it's there right-click and have your way with it. 4/19/2007 10:46:08 PM |
