I have a 22" lcd I want to mount on the wall. It weighs 16.3lbs. I'd like to put it on an articulating arm but I have no experience with them. I use a screen at work that's on a static wall mount and that holds up fine. I was just wondering if anyone has had one of these fail on them.
I was looking at something like this: http://www.mounts4less.com/product_info.php?cPath=84&products_id=103 4/21/2007 10:07:45 PM |

Use long wood screws, put the thing into a stud, and it won't go anywhere. 4/21/2007 10:29:36 PM |

yeah, i was more worried about whether or not anyone has had the actual arm give. From what i've read they seem pretty dependable, but I just wanted to ask.

if big swivel mounts can hold 50" tv's I think you'll be alright witha 16lbs tv. 4/22/2007 10:48:22 AM |

^true. I've already ordered one. I just didn't want to go for the first brand I saw and figured while I was looking around maybe someone hear would have a recommendation or say to stay away from a certain brand. And one at the store cost say 70-120 for something that is for the same size and weight (that's a considerable difference). Then you see one that looks almost exactly the same but with no name on the internet somewhere for 12.
I just decided on one that was a bigger name brand and found it on the internet for about half the retail price.

shrug. i got a mount for my 37" on monoprice for under 30 bucks and it works great. no need to pay extra for a piece of metal unless you read really bad reviews on the cheap stuff. 4/22/2007 3:44:07 PM |

Has anyone see a tethered ceiling mount? I want to have my tv higher up on above my fireplace, but I don't really want to drill through the stone and use a wall mount, and pole mount coming from the ceiling wouldn't look right.
Other suggestions are welcome.

ended up paying about 25 for one that's 80 in the store. Hadn't seen monoprice before, seems pretty good for the stuff they have.
^ I don't know if you're going to find something long enough.
This is a very left field suggestion, but: I'm assuming you don't want to drill into the stone in case you move the tv or you yourself move, and you risk splitting the stone, etc.. What about putting in a mantle? then just put the tv on the mantel. And if you move the mantle isn't an eyesore like holes in the perfectly good stone. It still requires drilling into the stone, but there won't be visible holes if you leave or move the tv.
To be honest, I personally wouldn't put it up higher because it would bother me to have to look up to watch tv, but if you don't mind that it may be a good alternative. And you could have it so the cables run through the mantle most of the way and aren't out in the open. 4/22/2007 7:14:24 PM |

well right now it looks like he has to look down to watch tv, which is arguably worse. 4/22/2007 7:32:25 PM |
