So...my vcr has begun eating tapes (figure it's just time to toss it?)
My tv has blob on the bottom middle that warps warm colors on the screen and little annoying fizzle bars have started to appear (pretty sure those are ps2 related).
My ps2 is positively ancient and the DVD player in it recently wore out. Now the fizzle bars are appearing on the screen when I play a game. I'm wondering if it's on it's way out or maybe it's salvageable?
If anyone has experienced these problems and has advice I'd appreciate it. 4/23/2007 10:38:47 AM |

Nobody has ever had a dying tv/vcr/ps2? I find that hard to believe. In case I wasn't clear, I'm wondering if these things really are all dying at once and I need to invest in some new things, or if you think I ought to wait it out/get them fixed/etc? 4/23/2007 6:31:57 PM |

try to degauss your TV. or, leave it unplugged for a day or so. this helped my old tv.
vcr's aren't worth fixing anymore - get a new one.
as far as the ps2, you can replace the DVD drive in it. i can get one for around $49, and if you want, i can put it in - it's easy as hell, though. 4/23/2007 6:38:15 PM |

I already bought a new DVD player, the ps2 one didn't play a lot of the new "anti-copy" formats anyway. Plus, I can get a new ps2 for pretty cheap anyway...wonder if I ought to. The one I have is one of the first ones made, so ancient, but it has been faithful. 4/23/2007 7:28:23 PM |

yeah, it's gonna be cheaper (and a better decision) to just get a new ps2 if it's THAT old. 4/24/2007 2:16:19 AM |
