for my living room. out of places like
pricewatch.com newegg.com and the like,
whats a good site to look around/purchase from
I don't know that much about projectors, I've never really used them except for presentations and stuff like that in the classroom. I'm looking for something pretty cheap. A used item is okay for me as well. I've done some looking around ebay too. From those of you with experience, what are some things relating to projectors that I should avoid? Anything lower than 1024x768 Native res? Is that enough for what I'll be using it for? I'll just be using it for DVDs, TV (digital cable), xbox, and my laptop. There's not much at the NCstate Surplus place either. any ideas will help!

check http://www.projectorpeople.com/. I got a panasonic one from there about 2yrs ago and it was cheaper than the business partner discount I get from panasonic.com. projectorpeople always have rebates too...
Things I recommend getting: -lots of lumens (like stated above) -lens shift - this lets you move the image around while keeping the projector in the same place. You have no idea how handy this is for home projectors -hdmi input -if your gonna be playin xbox make sure to read reviews on the ghosting/bluring that some projectors display on fast moving stuff (never had a problem with my lcd projector however) 5/2/2007 4:20:18 PM |

I've got an Optoma EP719. Bought it for $1000 w/ a 2 yr service plan last summer at Circuit City, but I saw them ~$500 last month. HD Ready. 5/2/2007 4:46:02 PM |

A couple of months ago I was looking into getting one. Mitsubishi HD1000U (I think) was what I came to a conclusion was best for me. Didn't end up getting it because I'll be moving soon and would be a pain to set up.
Check avsforums.com, lots of good information. 6/25/2007 12:04:36 PM |
