I figure there are about a million and a half ways to buy print cartridges...all have their drawbacks and their positives...
Where do you buy your print cartridges from? Online, bricknmortar, etc? 5/7/2007 1:31:52 AM |

A lot of people use places like "cartridge world" since it's cheaper. If ink costs are getting you down, I strongly suggest you look into getting a laser printer for at least your black and white printing. You can usually find a decent one for 70-100 bucks after mail in rebate. You can find color lasers starting at around 180 or so.
Bookstore has the konica-minolta 1400w b/w laser printer for 109.95 (69.95 after mail-in rebate) and a 2400w color laser for 179.95 (no rebate.) Personally, I like HP and samsung a little better but they're hard to find that cheap usually. Also, remember that although laser toner is MUCH cheaper per page than ink, the cartridges are going to be more expensive. That's because a toner cartridge is generally rated for 2000-6000 pages depending on the model, compared to 200-500 pages for an ink (and ink companies exaggerate the actual use you'll get by as much as 50%.) To save money, you can usually get places like catridge world to refill your toner cartridges for about half what a new one will cost.
So either way you go, I suggest going to a place like cartridge world and getting refills. Stick it to those evil printer companies trying to rip you off for ink. 5/7/2007 7:34:51 AM |

You should try ebay...I get a 5-10 cartridges at a time for very cheap. They aren't the name brand, but i've never had a problem with them, and its much cheaper than any store. Just watch out for the high shipping costs. 5/7/2007 1:08:59 PM |

I got a Dell 1700n B&W laser printer after I figured out that I was paying close to $0.30 per page with my HP 932c Inkjet. I can now print 10 times the volume I could before per dollar. 5/7/2007 1:15:14 PM |

The Textiles Library has ink cartridges on loan. You just need to bring them back within 48 hours. 5/8/2007 10:53:41 AM |
