BMW Oracle (America's Entry in the semi's) had an amazing comeback win today to even up their best-of-9 series against Italy's Luna Rossa 1-1. After being down by 58 seconds at the first windward mark, they stormed back with superior downwind speed to overtake on the final leg to win by 13 seconds.
Emirates Team New Zealand went up 2-0 against Desafío Español 2007 with a 40 second win that was never really a challenging race. 5/15/2007 2:23:21 PM |

yes - America Hasn't had the Cup since New Zealand won it in 1995 (NZ won again in 2000 and the Swiss of all people won it the last time it was held in 2003). Since the cup's inception in 1851, only one other time did America not hold the cup - when the Aussies won it in 1983.
BMW Oracle was looking great winning 17 of their 20 round-robin matches, but lost their final RR match and the first of the semi's. Emirate's Team NZ also went 17-3 in the round-robin. BMW and NZ split their RR matches 1-1. 5/15/2007 2:50:15 PM |

Here's how the couple-year-old joke goes:
Quote : | "You know the world's going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold America's Cup, France is accusing the US of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named Bush, Dick, and Colin." |
