Have a few large files that I can;t find the backup disks for at work- IE: Vorton Financial Tools, MMR, etc...
what is the easiest/most efficient way to transfer all of these files from my old pc to the new one we just got?
thanks for the help- (i know this is a noobish question) but in the past I have always had my backup disks on hand. 5/17/2007 10:42:44 AM |

i picked up a data transfer cable from the tigerdirect store...
can't guarantee it working for programs, but it worked fine for media files and personal data... especially handy since my desktop is nothing but a download mule now and it's quicker than sharing my laptop over the network... 5/17/2007 1:47:34 PM |

you can't transfer programs, only files.
now if you had access to something like UIU or Symantec Recovery it'd be a different story
you have to reinstall your programs...and that requires the installation files. looks like you can buy that vortran program for like $3 on ebay though...5/17/2007 1:58:15 PM |

You'll need a software solution to transfer files from drive to drive.
Many programs leave keys in the registry of their installed OS, and drop files in various windows folders. That's why you cant always just copy and paste the software directory. 5/18/2007 9:17:52 AM |
