I have been thinking about selling my desktop in order to get a laptop, but I have no idea how to go about it. I have a Sony Vaio (I will have to go through all the papers and figure out the exact model) I think it may be this one. http://compreviews.about.com/cs/desktops/gr/aaprVAIORS320.htm I also have the Sony 15" Flat Screen LCD monitor. I was wondering if I should completely clean out the hard drives and take it back to it's "stock" condition or sell as is? And I was wondering if anyone knew about how much I could get for it??
Just curious and I would appreciate ANYONES opinions... 5/23/2007 4:27:25 PM |

Well definitely don't sell it as is, always reinstall the OS or do the system restore. 5/23/2007 5:50:09 PM |

going out on a limb here, but yeah, there ain't NO way that LCD would increase the computer price by $220
computer ~$200 depends on how ignorant the buyer is, this is average ebay price for used vaio desktop with similar specs...
lcd ~$70, again... going rate on ebay for LCD with similar specs
IMHO, you'd be lucky to sell the bundle for anything above $250 5/23/2007 6:49:58 PM |

i'd put it on craigslist for 300 OBO
that way if the person tries to talk you down you can be like 250 and its yours 5/23/2007 6:57:55 PM |

I agree with Prospero assessment. Definitely format the hard drive. You can download hard drive cleaners that makes sure deleted files are actually deleted.
What do you want to do with your laptop? Just generic stuff like websurfing, office programs and such? Anything specific? Pretty much for normal apps, you can get away with a cheap 300-500 dollar laptop (yes you can get $300 laptops, they do suck, but for general purpose, they work). Anything more intensive will require better specs, such as larger hard drive, more ram, faster processor, perhaps a graphics card or larger/higher resolution lcd. Also depends on your budget.
Remember, what ever you buy it's either outdated in a week or it is already outdated by 6+ months. 5/24/2007 8:04:40 PM |
