Which athletes did you re-arrange your schedule if need be just to see what they’d do next?
I was too young but many people say Dwight Gooden when he first broke in was this kind of athlete. He did stuff you just didn’t see before and will never see again.
In my time Barry Sanders was this kind of athlete. Though the guy I did this for the most was prime Pedro Martinez. Never seen a guy with as electric stuff as him and it was really amazing to watch.
Right now, there is only one football player I try to watch no matter what and that is Reggie Bush. Not because he is the best out there (he isn’t close) but because you know every time he touches the ball you might see something you will never see again.
In baseball, I make time to watch every start Oliver Perez makes and even more recently Tim Lincecum. Those guys, when they are on, are as filthy as the come. 5/25/2007 11:55:53 AM |

Devin Hester.........
I was on the sideline in 2004 when he took that opening kickoff back, and made my jaw hit the ground... Since then, I try to catch all his returns.... 5/25/2007 12:05:58 PM |

^ Yeah I was there too, everyone was so pumped, then 15 seconds later it's like all the air is sucked out of the building.

Michael Jordan.
I'm 27 and was fortunate enough to watch him in the United Center and the MCI Center when he was with the Bulls & Wizards.
I've also seen all of todays stars in live NBA games, and let me tell you, there is no comparision to the buzz that Jordan created. Nothing. Everytime he got the ball, everytime he was the on ball defender, you felt like something amazing was going to happen.
I missed birthdays, anniversarys, vacations, etc to go see him play on numerous occasions. 5/25/2007 12:22:36 PM |

What about Peyton??? You have to admit watching his offense is pretty awesome.

Reyes is up there for me, but I watch pretty much every Mets game so I didn't include him since he plays everyday (unlike a pitcher)...
Lincecum is pretty fun to watch too since he is my size (5'10" 160 ish) and can throw 100 mph and has electrifying breaking stuff...
And I agree about LT >>>>>>>> Bush but I couldn't not watch Reggie even when he was in college (which I enjoy more than the NFL)

Man, I saw both Steve Nash and Dwayne Wade recently when their respective teams played in Charlotte. Nash is so skilled, it's a joy watching him play. D-Wade, even hurt, is so much faster in real-life. His explosiveness is second only to Kobe.
I want to see Kobe live at least once, not only so I can boo him, but the threat of a 50+ point game is always possible. King James, Agent Zero, Dirk, and Shaq (didn't get to see b/c of grandpa's funeral) are probably some others that I would stop and watch.
Let's see.
NFL: Devin Hester has that Dante Hall aura now, and yeah, seeing him run that kick back against us years back was absolutely amazing. I love seeing Manning conduct the Colts's offense because his audibles/playcalling is so precise. You want to see how the defense is going to adjust to him. Oh yeah, Steve Smith, you can't miss him.
MLB: Bonds obviously. Pujols. Big Papi. Man-Ram, Reyes, Jeter & A-Rod (even though I hate them), Ichiro, and someone like Torii Hunter on the defensive end. Pitchers like Johan Santana, Roy Halladay, Jake Peavy, etc.
NHL: Sid the Kid and Ovechkin.
Golf: Tiger Woods, no question
Other Sports: Probably someone like Little E, Tony Stewart, Danica Patrick (for obvious reasons), Chuck Lidell, Ronaldinho, and Thierry Henry. 5/25/2007 4:21:37 PM |
