anyone know how many hours this would be at a shop? its not that bad to get to, i just dont want to mess with evacuating and recharging the system.

wheres a good a/c shop? i'll probably just live with the occasional honk, but when i have time i want to take care of it.

it's probably not much more than .5 hours (then again i've never priced it out on a bmw).. but you are going to still have to pay for an evac/recharge which will be more expensive.

just cause its 134a doesnt make it cheap, youre gonna shell out a 100 or more by the time its all said and done.

I looked it up at work today, I couldn't remember exactly what you have so I guessed 99 318. Labor is 2.4 hours. Be prepared.

if its that old and you open the system, its gonna need a new dryer, and probably a flush if there is enough crap in the sytem to plug the expansion valve

i'll check to be sure, but the dryer was probably replaced a year ago when everything else was.

the guy did it himself (compressor died), im betting that the expansion valve got plugged because he didnt flush it
