In order to hook up my (cheap-ass) surround sound system, I had to cut the speaker cords in the middle. The cords are not marked and I neglected to manually check and mark their positive and negative connections before I cut and respliced them.
Now that I have them connected again, I wonder if I have connected some of them out of phase - I tried the Avia disc, but it just uses audio localization to test phase correctness.
Is there a more definite way of checking this? 6/14/2007 7:22:19 AM |

hook a 9V battery up to the wires. If the speaker pops OUT, the polarity is correct. If it pops IN, the polarity is reversed. (the 9V battery has + and - terminals). 6/14/2007 8:49:00 AM |
