i was getting freezes in the map loading screen (stuck at 50%)

then i reinstalled the game, and updates, now it will let me load the map but only a few minutes in (if that) it freezes up hard

i un-overclocked my video card (nvidia controls) and tried BF2, which ran flawlessly....

i defragged

then i tried to run bf2142 again and it locked up soft on the Joining Server notification box...

any ideas?

all other games run fine, downloading is fine

bf2142 single player also had the same issues

it was fully functional yesterday/day before

hmm, do you have a firewall (hardware or software) ?

it's possible that bf2142 is running something differently or new, ingame-network wise. it could also affect single player if it's authentication checking

k, looks like it had something to do with norton a/v and the install... so i uninstalled both
reinstalled both, updated both, and both seem to be working very well now...
