OK, I literally just got to work b/c a Metro train broke down between Greenbelt and DC (2 hour delay) - I had to take a bus and sit next to a geriatric all the wayb to the Metro station past the broken down train.

This old motherfucker would not stop talking... and about COMPUTERS at that. Literally would not shut the fuck up... and he wouldn't talk to anyone but me. I am not one to disrespect the elderly to their face... but I will on the internet though.

This morning wasn't bad - but these College Park bitches who got on would not shut the fuck up. At one point they started making fun of the southern congressmen who they have to call for their "EXCITING NEW INTERNSHIPS." No, I left from Charlotte for 3 job interviews I had lined up. By the last interview, I got a job offer so I decided to stay. I brought my computer and lots of clothes just in case this happened, and it did. I did not pack all my belongings though... that'll have to wait a few weeks. Gas is expensive, and I'm gonna wait a few paychecks before I go back to get my stuff.

So that's what was going on?

One of the best moments I had on the Metro was on the Red heading towards the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan stop, when all of a sudden the power goes out, emergency brakes kick on, and we're sitting in completely dark and completely silent tunnel with nothing but a single emergency light in our car.

Fortunately, the PA system wasn't working either, so we had no idea what was going on for the 25 minutes we were down there. There was this one lady freaking out thinking that the terrorists had "attacked us from above." We never heard what happened, other than that they were having some power issues. I guess that pretty much explains it.

virginia is a helluva lot better than maryland in terms of commute...

worked on K St. NW, total door-to-door commute from home to work was 25 min., only 10 min. of it on the metro and hardly ever have to deal with talkers on mondays

DC is very nice if you know where to go and know what to do, lots of free stuff and cheap outdoors stuff to do, LOTS of places for happy hours and cheap entertainment... the only thing expensive about DC is the real estate / housing, if you think the nightlife is expensive you just don't know where to go
