for the same reason toyota has a plant in the USA.

NAFTA benefits and transportation costs on big ticket items most likely.

Yes, so? Do any of us eat better or get better cars simply by having a higher us gdp?

Nope. All that matters is production, it doesn't matter where the production takes place, once it is produced then someone, maybe us, will be able to consume it making us better off.

I agree with HUR, they are probably producing large bulky products which do not ship well over seas, such as cars.

In such a scenario, the Chinese claim the profits, Mexican's get the jobs, American's get the cars; everyone wins.

It's going to be a long time before you can convince Americans to buy Chinese cars.

These cars that are being made in Mexico might actually be FOR Mexico.

*IF* it is cars. We have no link to go along with this thread, we have no idea what the plant in mexico is producing. It might be processing materials purely for export to china for all we know.

its cars...it takes away the tariffs...china has to pay tariffs but if they are built in mexico, the NAFTA thing makes it to wear they dont have to pay tariffs
