I have a gateway MX6030 laptop and I am looking to upgrade the memory in it.
The Current specs for ram are:
Memory 512 MB DDR (1 x 512 MB) SODIMM (PC2700) Expandable to 1 GB
this was found at
http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Gateway/6000Series/5378sp3.shtml
any recommendations as to brand/product I want to go up to a 1 GB?
I have put ram in a pc before, is this a similar job or would it be better to get someone else to install it?
thanks 6/22/2007 12:59:15 PM |

Best to go with same brand that comes with the laptop. If that's not possible, go with something cheap like Kingston since it's an old computer anyways.
1. Get something like this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1428327&CatId=150
2. Install is very easy (possibly easier than on a desktop). Install it per the user manual instructions here (do a search for keyword "memory" and it will take you to the correct section): http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Q106/Blade/8511418.pdf
3. Done.
