Ben is a ~2 yr old black lab mix that we found recently. We tried to find his owners but could not, so now he is up for adoption. He got neutered, heartworm tested, dewormed and vaccinated today and we also started him on Heartguard and Frontline.

Ben has done really well with my cats and all of the dogs he has met so far. He play bows at everything! He loves to play fetch and will bring a tennis ball back to you (but doesn't like to return the soccer ball and frisbee). It is obvious that he was just an outdoor dog before and he hasn't been taught any manners. We are crate training him and trying to house break him. He hasn't had any accidents yet. Now that he has been inside he doesn't like to be outside anymore unless we (humans or other dogs) are with him. He is working on the command "sit" and is doing well with that.

He does have some food aggression issues and will growl if you try to take his bowl while he is eating. We are working on that and he is already getting better. He also growls when you pick him up but I think that can be overcome too. He was great for his bath and ear cleaning.

If you are interested please let me know. He isn't ready to be adopted yet but he should be soon. There is an adoption fee of $150 to cover his vet costs and there is an application for any applicants that might be interested.

how big is he height and weightwise?

hmm, height is ~25" (that is wiggle measurement). weight is 45-50 lbs. He is super thin right now. he is not your typical stocky lab.

He is still up for adoption. He is currently being treated for heartworms. The vet said his case is really bad. His lungs are inflammed from the infection but the vet thinks once he is treated, he should be A ok. It is difficult to keep him calm during the treatment because he loves to play. Even though he is 2, he is very puppyish. He doesn't destroy anything but does bring me dirty clothes from the hamper and shoes. He again doesn't chew them but brings them to me. He does wonderfully with my cattle dog and aussie and my cats. He is friendly with strangers but it does take him awhile to fully trust new people. When I first got him he would growl at me if I touched his food dish, picked him up, or "hugged" on him. Now I can do all of those things with no problems. As you can tell from his video, his tail wags all of the time. It is a weapon. It knocks glasses off the coffee table.

I have spent well over $150 on him but I am not going to change the adoption fee. It is still $150 and I am going to cover everything over that.
