. . .at it again!

Rosie's Latest Controversy

Quote :
"Rosie O’Donnell shocked fans by posting a photo on her website of her four-year-old daughter, Vivienne Rose, wearing an ammunition belt.

The picture is published under a blog entry on rosie.com titled 'a picture is worth a thousand posts,' and O'Donnell offers no further explanation. Presumably, the post is a political statement about war and guns destroying the lives of children around the world.

Fans responded by writing in messages of support as well as outrage."

This is wrong on so many levels. But it's not surprising coming from her.

This kid will learn very soon that she is in no way related to rosie odonnell.

She'll then thank her lucky stars.

^^ i like rosie o'donnell, its good to have people like her out there, doing her part to piss off the religious right.

but i dont watch her show, or generally follow what she does.

in fact, i get more info about Rosie O'Donnell from hooksaw than i do all other sources combined.

That’s not saying much. She reminds me of your "typical" leftist protestor who is long on emotion, maybe has a few sound bites, but is so wrapped up in their own righteousness that they can't put together a coherent argument. This isn't to say everything they say is wrong, but what might be right, they say all wrong.

Quote :
"O’Donnell has been a staunch gun-control advocate for years. In 1999, she famously confronted actor Tom Selleck about a commercial he filmed for the NRA on her talk show The Rosie O’Donnell Show, where he was promoting his latest film The Love Letter.

Last October, after five children were killed during an Amish school shooting, O’Donnell and her conservative cohost Elisabeth Hasselbeck debated the merits of the Second Amendment on an episode of the ABC morning talk show The View. The right to bear arms, the comedian argued, is 'not really a right.'

She continued: 'In the United States there is debate over whether or not the right to bear arms includes the lobby organization of the NRA, allowing no rules and no registration and absolutely, sort of, carte blanche, to make guns available to Americans in a way they're not in the rest of the world.'

O’Donnell, 45, made her most infamous anti-gun proclamation following the 1999 shootings at Columbine High School.

'Outlaw all guns,' she said at the time, 'and put all gun owners in jail!'"

And if I remember, didn't Rosie's bodyguard get picked up by the police for carrying a concealed weapon onto school grounds when he picked up her kids?

Rosie and Sean Penn send the message that personal protection is only for the elite liberal intellectuals who deserve it. For everyone else, the police will show up 20-30 minutes after it's all over to take your body away and put up that yellow tape around everything.

Quote :
"In May 2000, O'Donnell's bodyguard applied for a concealed firearm permit in Connecticut. O'Donnell stated that it was not she who requested the permit, but Kroll, the security firm through which the guard was hired and was contracted by O'Donnell's employer Warner Brothers. Numerous parents of children who attended the same school as O'Donnell's children expressed their concern about the possibility of O'Donnell's bodyguard being armed while on school grounds. O'Donnell confirmed 'the guard does not normally have a gun, but is trained in self-defense techniques. And there was never any intention of his carrying a gun at school.' O'Donnell added that because of threats, she and her family -- including 4-year-old Parker who will be attending school next fall -- need protection, which she attributes, ironically, to her 'tough gun-control rhetoric'."

^^^ hmm. I have to admit i do have a problem with that.

^^is that true (about her bodyguard) ?? well, damn.

^ word. i can always trust hooksaw to be ready with a quote.

good job, guys. i hate to admit it, but you are swaying my opinion. I'll have to look into this.

Because I am, and always have been, partial to (supportive of) the Second Amendment.

I still like the fact that she's outspoken on other issues, and confronting the religious right's status quo. specifically, pro-choice and gay rights, and being a critic of the Iraq War and BushCo in general. some of her stances/comments are extreme, and some are stupid, but its balanced out by the neo-nazicons on the Right.

you know, she's almost like the Ann Coulter of the Left.

If this were a chess game, I would sacrifice her for Coulter.

^ Meh. I mean, "destructive effect" is difficult to measure.

In any event, I think Coulter and O'Donnell have simply become quick money-making machines for themselves and others--their employer/publisher/host rides the lightning until he or she can't hold on anymore. Then, everybody just deposits the money that rolled in.

And I don't necessarily defend Coulter. I agree with the premise of many things that she says--but not the way she says them. And I have honestly come to believe that Coulter is more than a bit mentally unbalanced.
