whose career was ended/shortened by injury.

Think mine would be Robert Edwards. He was amazing the first year he started, convinced he would have won a Heisman if he had stayed healthy in college, and then he totally blew his knee out in the pros... think hes still playing up in Canada some but damn he was good when healthy.

^^^ are you asking? in that case, no, because I never saw him in person, and his career was just as much shortened by coke as it was by injuries (unless you count falling at a club while coked out as just an injury)

^ good one

I'm asking for general opinion of David Thompson counting in this, because I have seen him in person(which is also a weird condition to put onto this list IMO).

He was sidelined as much by injuries as substance abuse. And the stairs at Studio 54 or whatever was an injury, just not sports related.

Seeing a 50 year old DT doesn't count, even if I was impressed when he dunked the ball from standing flat footed in a suit and dress shoes at halftime one game.

^^^ you saw him play in 1985 and remember it?

and the in person was so that people wouldnt just put the well known ones, like Bo etc... I meant more like people you saw in person who blew you away but never really got famous because of the injury

I can't think of any at the moment except Lavar Arrington. I'm sure there are others but he popped into my mind of recent playes I've seen that injuries ended/shortened his career. Are we talking in person or on TV?

I'd actually say Childress too(he was the man back in the day, just couldn't stay healthy come tournament time).

Also Grant Hill.

I actually saw both of them at signing events but never actually saw either of them play in person, it was weird. But meeting Childress was dwarfed by meeting Tim Duncan standing next to him, haha.

I saw Griffey Jr. one time at a Reds/Indians game when i went to Cleveland

although his career isn't over and he's doing great now I still find it hard to believe he wouldn't have broken the home run record if he could have stayed a little bit healthier those few years ago

yeah, thats fine, but people are mentioning people that lost 1-2 years but still had great careers... and yes I know that technically that is a "shortened" career...

this is a stupid thread if you're gonna limit it so much.

Chris Kelley...
In high school he was the best quarterback I have ever seen. Top rated quarterback I believe. His team was like 26-0 with him starting. 40 something touchdowns his senior year. Got all sorts of offers, but decided to stay close to home and go to Maryland. Was the highest rated quarterback on the east coast.

If he didn't fuck up both his knees, Scott McBrien would never have seen the field.

I was at the sideline of the FSU-Duke game to see Chris "The Weinkster" Weinke play during his Heisman year. I think FSU won like 63-14.

Old age and lack of hair have drastically shortened his NFL playing time
