Ok. As I have mentioned before, I have a '79 Malibu that is currently not running and in storage in Greensboro. Problem is, I'd like to start working on it, but I obviously can't do that when it's 80 miles away, not to mention I'm paying $60/month for outdoor storage and that doesn't strike me as a good deal (I didn't make the arrangements).

I'd like to have it towed to Raleigh and store it here, so I wanted to know if anyone had recommendations of a good and relatively inexpensive storage location that isn't in the ghetto. Indoor storage would be ideal, of course. Another plus would be a place that won't bitch at me if I work on the car there (not talking about major surgery, just odds and ends that I'll need to attend to before the major work begins).

And, no, I can't keep it at my place of residence. I only have one parking space at my current apartment, and while I could theoretically park the Marauder on the street where I'm moving to next month, a) I'd rather not and b) I think my landlord who is also a resident might object to having a non-running car in the driveway.

Raleigh City zoning code mandates that all residences have at least two parking spaces, even one bedrooms. Your landlord is lying to you or is just ignorant if you think you get only one. A lot of these hicks that own property around here don't know their ass from a hole in the ground and think just because you only have one car, you only deserve on parking space. Thats BS, you should at least get an extra hang tag for visitors. I have 2 spaces for my 1 BR

I'm guessing their line would be that there are enough visitor spaces/street parking to where I could have a second car there if I wanted. Not an issue I want to pursue since I'll be moving out at the end of the month.

The place I'm moving to, I'm renting a room from a friend who owns the place. I don't want to make it an issue with him, especially not right as I'm moving in.

Well I have the car already. Not getting rid of it, period (has been in the family since new). Hoping to buy a house sometime in the next year or two and then I will have a place to work on it, but trying to get a better deal for storage in between and at least have it local.

try ample storage on bush street. i know they used to rent spaces advertised as shops at reasonable prices and allowed you to do work. we might have ruined it with our shenanigans though, when we moved to a bigger space the guy said he probably wasn't going to allow any more vehicle work. something about flipping a car in the parking lot.

i also know a guy that owns spaces in garner that i used to rent, but i imagine it's out of your budget and really too big for just one car.

there's also a storage place on atlantic ave. that allowed you to do work, but i can't remember the name of it. i looked there, but they didn't have anything big enough for our needs.

Just about the ONLY cool thing about living down here is that storage is dirt cheap.

60 bucks a month will get me 10x20 of enclosed storage. That's less than half of what it is in Raleigh.
