I have windows Vista and when my computer idles or when I am using it there are random noises that play. The computer says cheers and a few other of the noises i assume are part of windows. I have virus scan updated and says my computer is clear. Any ideas?

could be spyware or some application you have in the background that you are unaware of...like those desktop stripper programs. or maybe some how your windows sound files got changed.

I'd bet it's some anti-virus/firewall/whatever program running in the background. Probably makes a sound every time it finds a cookie or finishes a scan.

Figure out what applications you're running in the background and make sure they don't have any sound effects.
