yes all companies should rid themselves of customers that bitch, thats great for profits.
If that was the case you would have to have a membership to shop at Wal-Mart and 90% of the current customers would have their memberships revoked. 7/14/2007 4:08:04 PM |

if you constantly lied about products so that you could get money back i wouldnt expect the store to allow you to keep shopping there. there is nothing unreasonable about that. 7/14/2007 4:09:21 PM |

You're not too bright, are you? All companies who are losing money because of support costs should do this. In fact, sprint is not the first to cut off "high maintenance" customers. This is also why most computer companies don't have free tech support anymore.
Unlike you, companies are smart enough to realize that they make no profit from someone if they abuse free support services. IOW, the reason they are doing this is precisely because they aren't making a profit.

^ if a cell phone company isn't making a profit, with all the fees and hidden charges and required contracts, they have bigger problems than picky customers.
cell phone companies are slowly moving up the list on "organizations that i hate", behind (but very behind) insurance companies. 7/15/2007 8:37:05 PM |

honestly I hope I get one of these damn letters from them.
Called on Thursday to see about upgrading my plan, the first woman argued with me that my contract had to be extended on both phones, when I finally said we were going nowhere I got retentions.
After 30 minutes of the guy at retentions trying to fix my account to the state it was in before the first woman screwed it all up, I was then told they extended my contract back in March when I had an insurance replacement done on my phone.
WTF. 7/16/2007 11:00:56 AM |

basically all cell phone companies suck.
i was with sprint early in college, both the service and support sucked. i went to cingular and everything was good, but then my girlfriend was with verizon and we were eating up eachothers minutes so i switched to be in their 'in' network. verizon was ok at first, but then i started dropping half my calls. when i complained they told me that the phone i have is not a good phone (when i bought it they said it was an excellent phone, of course) and that i needed to upgrade, which obviously means sign a new contract. that is piss poor service and i refuse to do business with them.
now i'm back with cingular, just a few months before they switched to at&t. nothing to complain about so far so i suppose their support is doing pretty good. i wish they would all start hacking away at each others data plan prices though. $10 a month for 200 text messages and 1MB of data is retarded. 7/16/2007 7:06:38 PM |

Hell most businesses do this sorta thing in some way or another. It helps if you have more people wanting your services than you can handle like where I work at though. So if someone is being a super pain in the ass, calling all the time and bothering us about stupid stuff constantly, we just drop em and pickup someone new to fill their spot. Like others said, between all the time they spend catering to these peoples constant complaints they are losing money on those particular customers, so economics tells you the smart thing to do is drop em. 7/17/2007 10:14:54 AM |

you guys have no foresight
it costs 10 times as much to gain a new customer than it does to retain one.
furthermore, you act as though word-of-mouth doesn't exist. i wonder what someone's gonna say about a company that dropped them. you can complain about a business to your friends, but this just takes it to a whole new level.
what it all boils down to is this: sprint should be focused on FIXING the problems that people keep complaining about. instead they took the easy way out. Like Dumbledore says, "there will come a time when you will have to choose between what is right and what is easy."

^everyone knows sprint has the best retention plans and those letters are directed at the people who abuse this by calling 50 times a month about exaggerated (and often nonexistant) problems. 7/17/2007 11:25:29 AM |

Quote : | "Andersen Consulting reported that churn costs operators a combined total of more than $4 billion each year in the mature markets of North America and Europe (MPN, Sept. 8, 1997). And with customer acquisition costing four to six times more than customer retention, reducing churn should be a priority, said Greg Spurrier, SLP vice president of North American operations. "It is a top-of-the-mind topic for all wireless providers," Spurrier said. "They are bleeding money in terms of churn."
"What we found in the marketplace," Bixler added, "is that true churn management really relates to being pro-active in customer relations as well as being able to respond when they call in."

when i bought my phone with sprint in 2000, i paid $150 for it. when i bought my phone with verizon in 2004, i paid $100 for it. when i bought my phone with cingular in 2007, i paid $180 for it.
when verizon tells me that the $100 phone they sold me is a piece of shit and i need to get a new one, that is fucking piss poor customer service, any way you cut it. i don't want free stuff, i just want the stuff i've already paid for to work. and when there is obviously a problem with repeated dropped calls, of course i'm going to repeatedly complain about it and i expect some sort of compensation because the service i'm paying for is sub-par to what others are receiving. so yes, when a company doesn't care about that, i will move on to their competition.7/17/2007 5:01:54 PM |
